The Family Assistance Center Will Reopen Friday in Kāʻanapali

The Family Assistance Center Will Reopen Friday in Kāʻanapali

The Family Assistance Center will close its location at the Kahului Community Center Thursday night and reopen at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa’s Monarchy Ballroom in Kāʻanapali on Friday, Aug. 18, according to a Maui County news release.

Those who have been impacted by the Maui wildfires can utilize this “one-stop shop” for various resources and services that are intended to help with relief efforts. Families and individuals are invited to stop by and work with staff to determine what their needs are and be connected with the appropriate parties.

Aid provided by American Red Cross, Salvation Army, FEMA Disaster Assistance, Maui County Office of Economic Development – Workforce Development, Maui Economic Opportunity, emergency financial assistance from the Tzu Chi Foundation, legal information from the Maui County Bar Association, and chaplain services will be available immediately.

More services are expected to be added to this list.

People still seeking to reconnect with family members can meet with U.S. Department of Health and Human Services representatives for information that may assist in finding their loved ones. Immediate family members can also provide DNA samples, which will be used to help identify those who’ve been reported missing. Those who can provide DNA samples but reside outside of Maui are prompted to call the FBI’s Honolulu division at 808-566-4300.

The Family Assistance Center will be open daily from 10am to 8pm For more information, call the Family Assistance Center at 800-733-2767.
